It has been three
weeks home now. These three weeks have been some of the most challenging of my
life so far, and I am sure of Isaac's also. Through that we are finding our new normal, and finding joy in our new life.
The first two weeks
being home we were dealing with, among all the usual stuff of just being home
from China with a new 5 year old son, our sweet little dog being sick. Turns
out our dog suddenly had a large brain tumor. She was our sweet girl, our
little cuddler and loving companion. Through all the hard times of the last ten
years, she was in my arms when I cried and needed a friend. She was our baby.
Thursday last week we had to make a gut-wrenching decision to not pursue further
treatment and let her go. My heart still hurts.
But, we needed to be
able to focus on Isaac, especially these first few critical weeks home. And I
am happy to say that we have seen him blossom.
The name Isaac means
laughter, and one of the few specific things I prayed for Isaac over this last
year was that he would be a boy and a man of great laughter, full of joy, and
find delight in life. How God answers prayer! This little boy delights in
everything. It is pure joy to give him a gift or show him something new.
He loves to see how
things work and then master them. He is very smart.
He loves dinosaurs and
other ferocious animals and mimicking their sounds.
He loves trucks, cars
and trains. He also loves making them crash!
He loves to be chased,
and he screams better than an eight year old girl.
He loves to be
tickled, and he is SO ticklish!
He loves people. A
little extrovert for sure!
He loves being read to
and acting out the pictures in the book.
He loves baths and
will play in there until his teeth chatter.
We have loved getting
to know him and I am so excited to see him grow and learn more about who he is.
He is a delightful person. I wish you could all know him!
God has given us such
a gift, in His time, with His perfection.
What a tremendous encouragement you are! Hope some day we will meet Isaac. We will continue to lift you up in prayer. Thanks for the update!
