A few weeks ago we watched a Kid's Baking Challenge show. When they announced the large monetary prize, Isaac was so excited. He said, "Mama! I want to do this so I can help bring home my brother!" (More on that story soon!)
Since had never baked before I suggested that we could start with a cookie stand. Last weekend he had a "virtual" chocolate chip cookie stand. After we made a video and explained what we were doing we posted it to our neighborhood's Facebook site. He made, sold, and delivered over 350 cookies!
He learned how to measure ingedients, work the mixer, scoop dough, and use the spatula to place cookies on the cooling rack. He's also a great taste tester!
Once they cooled we placed them in bags of a dozen and tied a card on them. They had a family picture with the words "Thank you for helping me bring home my brother!" Then we delivered them around the neighborhood to those who had ordered.
He is so very proud of being able to participate in bringing home his new brother and I am so proud of Isaac and his heart. Our community is the best- they ordered cookies upon cookies to support him. At this point they have donated over $1000 for our adoption! We are so blessed to have our son, to be adopting again, and to be in the midst of these wonderful people we call neighbors and friends.
