American Summer

Life has been evolving quickly in the months since we brought Isaac home. Every time we find a new normal, it changes. He has gone through so many stages very quickly in so many areas- food, behavior, likes and dislikes, etc. It seems as if he is going through all of the stages he would have had in his first few years , trying to catch up to where he would have been had he been our son from his first day. I don't know if that's true or not, but it seems so. He sure keeps me on my toes!
We had just heard the song that says "when you don't know what to say, just say Jesus".
Isaac yells out "Jesus! Jesus love-a-me!

Right now Isaac and Baba are playing on the living room floor, making cars talk to each other. Something about buying orange chicken…

Earlier we went swimming in the neighborhood pool. Just last week although he loved going swimming he was terrified of jumping in or going under water. Now he asks to be "thrown" and he repeatedly jumps in from the side. He now even loves going under the waterfall area! It is so much fun to watch him break free from his fears and embrace fun.

One of my favorite things is listening to him pray. He loves to say the dinner and bedtime prayers. "Hhhank you go to school, hhhank you Mama make dinner, hhhank you go swimming, hhhank you Mama Baba, hhhank you read a story, hhhank you take a bath…" He will name almost everything in his immediate world at every prayer. My heart both sings and cries.
"Yum, choc-o-lick!"

Proud to be an American! (And happy to catch candy from the parade floats!)

Isaac is sleeping in his own room, and very proud to show his room to every visitor. He is personable and affectionate. He is mostly polite- he says "sooka me" (excuse me) "hhhank you" and "pee-pulee" (please) where appropriate. Preciousness!

We are blessed that God chose us to be the parents of this little boy- full of personality and life. He is a treasure that we just keep discovering.
