At this point I have lost count
of weeks and am in the "months" mode. Isaac has been home more than 5
months! In that time we have seen him blossom. Even in photos you can see a
difference.
A shout-out to our friend, Anitra: she blew us away with these, our first family photos! |
Super-Duper ticklish! |
Isaac loves going to preschool
and he is learning so much- he can even write his name. Colors are difficult, though. We have
discovered that he is most likely color-blind!
Like many boys, everything can be a car or a dinosaur or an airplane. As long as it roars or revs.
We see his natural athleticism;
nothing he tries is too hard for him. He is so fast on his bike that we can't keep up with him.
Over these months we have seen him
open up by degrees. I rejoice to see him express more sensitivity and accept
more affection.
It is nothing short of amazing to
be able to see and participate in the miracle of a child flourishing with love.
I am honored to be Isaac's mom.
There is a little girl I want to
tell you about who still needs to find her Mama and Baba. Jessie, now age 7, has
a bright personality, is outgoing and full of smiles. She
is smart and energetic but she can focus for long periods of time when
something interests her. She's
affectionate and caring toward others and has a great sense of humor!
Jessie attends
Kindergarten where she does very well in handwriting. When first placed in
foster care in December 2012 at age six, she couldn't count to ten or name many
colors. Now, however, she is calculating long strings of addition and
subtraction, writing Chinese characters, and generally thriving in school.
Jessie is smart and is catching up quickly. See what love can do?!
Jessie loves
playing with building toys like Legos, active games like kicking a ball and
riding a scooter, and jigsaw puzzles. She loves looking at books and
since starting to learn English at her school, she is eager to be told new
English words and try them out. Jessie enjoys singing and loves playing
piano when she gets the chance.
Her fight to
survive and optimistic personality have served her well. Jessie will be a huge blessing for a
family who is willing to step in meet her emotional and physical challenges. She has so
much to offer and desperately needs a forever family to love her and help her
grow. Her special need is similar to Isaac's and I would be happy to
answer questions or put you in touch with a sweet lady who knows Jessie. Please
pass this on to anyone you may know who would consider adopting this precious
child.
