One of my favorite Christmas gifts this last year was this
framed piece from my sister and her family. At the time we were still waiting
to move in to our new home and waiting on two children we were adopting; one
domestic adoption- a baby girl due in a month- and the second a little four
year old boy we would bring home from China in a year. Our new home was the beginning of our dreams
coming true. We had been trying to start a family for nearly five years.
We moved in to this beautiful house in early March. It is still the beginning of our dream, though the first adoption was disrupted. The baby (who turned out to be a boy!) has stayed with his biological mother. Although our hearts are hurting, we have been enjoying setting up house and continuing to work on the dossier for China.
After renovating two homes together, we have been amazed at how much work there is on a brand new house! Mick has been busy putting up shelving and preparing to finish the basement. I have been painting and sealing. We have most of our things unpacked now, but still all of our framed pictures are still leaning against the wall- everything but this picture. It reminds me daily that I have hope and a purpose as I work to bring home our son from China. And as I remember that hope and purpose, I remember that I have a bigger hope and purpose- and a Father making room for me, too.
